Dreams Are Free

Found this great article and mini-site at The Age website, describing some “Essential Gadgets”, as selected by those who actually have to test & try these toys/gadgets.  Will be interesting to see how the “Executive Style” website progresses – looking like something from “Fortune Magazine“.

Here’s a few of the “choice picks” – for my liking anyways

  • GED BULMER, editor of Wheels magazine : Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano – say no more (except that it’s $600,000) – I actually think it’s a bit UGLY !
  • NICK RAMAN, editor of Bicycling Australia : Cervelo Soloist Carbon – an $8000 pushbike !
  • IAN MACRAE, editor of Modern Boating magazine : Sunseeker Portofino 47
  • ADAM TURNER, technology writer for The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald : Topfield TF7000HDPVRtb : digital set top box with built in hard drive recorder.   Not – that’s more realistic !    (but – still $1299 – will probably remain a dream).

If you’re still feeling like you’ve got a few pennies left over, or want some “more” dreams :

  • Riviera Sport Cruisers And Sport Yachts – pretty fancy website, but woulda cost a pittance compared to the cost of these amazing boats.
  • And don’t forget the newest “mega-yachts” – from the Feadship custom builders. Most of these make the Spirit Of Tassie look like a fishing boat.
  • But, my favourite “dream-boats” would have to be the Princess range, especially the new Princess 95 Motor Yacht (95MY).  Of course, I’d need to win $10 million – to pay for the boat – AND – the up-keep.

Even more extravagant – how about your own ISLAND ?!?    Well – I’d have the boat already, eh ?

A man-made island resort is being constructed off the coast of Dubai – in the shape of planet earth.  So – you can buy a “country” !

Well – an island shaped like a country.  The project involves dredging and spitting out hundreds of new sand islands, with many lagoons, beaches, marinas & resort hotels.  This has to be seen to be believed.

I can’t even begin to imagine how much these islands would cost – but it’s back to the age-old saying “if you have to ask, you can’t afford it” !!
