Open From Source Control – Visual Studio.NET 2003

Have been setting up a new laptop, with VS-2005, and loading the project for current client from Team Foundation Server (TFS).

As the “old” application is within VS.NET 2003, I also had to get that working.  So – went ahead and installed Visual Studio.NET 2003 – and Visual SourceSafe 6.0d (VSS).

But – for some reason, the option within Visual Studio for “Open From Source Control” was all disabled.

Not sure if this was due to the way that tools were installed – and/or TFS+VS-2005 ?

Anyway – found a post from Korby Parnell that described a similar problem when doing an “uninstall” of VS-2005.

And found that this fix worked for me.   Something to remember for next time.

To Fix: Re-register the integration dll (ssscc.dll) from the VSS 6.0x install, either by running regsvr32.exe (regsvr32 ssscc.dll) or by running ssint.exe provided with VSS6.
