Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) told Gigwise.com last week that using drugs had impaired his ability to write music, which is one of the reasons there were gaps of five or six years between some of the band’s previous records.

In the latter half of the 1990’s Reznor battled addiction problems and it’s something that he now admits stifled his creativity. He says it was also one of the main reasons NIN failed to release more material during those years.
