Orcas quick-as

Have been wanting to have a look at the new Visual Studio “Orcas” product – ie. the NEXT version of Visual Studio.

The January-2007 CTP release is now available – as an install’er – or (for the first time) as an entire VM.

In order to run the VM, you need to download about 4 GB of zip files – as well as a “base image” – which is just over 1 GB.

After sourcing the 4 GB of files from someone at work, I still had to grab the 1.1 GB “Visual Studio Code Name Orcas Base Image“.

But – thanks to OptusNet “cable” – I grabbed this in under 2 hours (!)

Check out some of these KB/S ratings – fastest I’ve ever seen.
