CTRL+K is your new URL-friend

With the need to have longer and longer web site links, including different GUIDs and QueryString’s, etc – sometimes they can be just TOO long & unwieldy.
Take this example within an email :

Here’s the website link from the email shown above :
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=7BB3A2A3-6A9F-49F4-84E8-FF3FB71046DF&displaylang=en

A much, much easier (more readable) way to do this is to include [...]

Yummies on Sunday

Always fun to have a family outing for Yum Cha – although poor Liam misses out.   Won’t be long till he’s chomping on a prawn dumping.
Cameron loves Dim Sim’s – and drowns everything in soy sauce.
He started crying at one point, after getting soy sauce into a cut on his finger (salt=ouches !)

If [...]

Live Mesh – First Touch

Windows Live Mesh – what’s it like ?
Well, after pestering some folk for an invite, I was *in*.   I had to jump through a few hoops to Install – as follows.
The basic premise is that the Live Mesh infrastructure is a cloud-based file synchronizing solution – allowing you to move files easily between home PC, [...]

1/2 birthday + Cameraon

Aside from being the ANZAC day long weekend, the 25th of April is a 1/2 birthday for Liam – he’s now 6 months old.
Has been an eventful few months for him :

Plaster on his left leg – changed weekly

Full anaesthetic for operation to snip Achilles’ Heel
Another plaster for 3 weeks
Plaster removed !
Into “boots [...]

Do the mesh, the monster mesh

A web-based live desktop – that’s how the new Microsoft Live Mesh is being touted as.   The new Software+Services architecture being extended to home users and developers alike.
The ability to synchronise files (photos, documents, etc) between home PC, mobile, work PC, home media centre, etc – this is the “dream”.
Live Mesh is both a development [...]

A new discipline

Trent Reznor has been busy, with a new song – not just instrumental like with Ghosts.
The new Nine Inch Nails single “Discipline” is available right now as a free download from discipline.nin.com.

Just need to enter your email address, and a zip code.   You’ll receive an email and a URL – just need to enter the [...]

Random stuff seen in USA

Have found some more photos on the camera phone, from last week in Denver, Colorado.
I often forget I’ve taken these pics – quick-snaps of something funny or interesting :
Gas Station Beverages
About 1/2 hour after driving off, we stopped into a petrol station to grab a drink, and noticed that you can buy beer [...]

K2 Insider Conference

Click here to read some highlights, and information about the K2 Insiders conference held last week in Denver, Colorado.
www.devk2.net
And don’t forget to check out the new K2.com website – with the old BLACK background gone, and much less reliance on “Flash”.    Looks nice & lean – some great information to be found.
Here’s some information about [...]

Tidy Desktop

Aside from all the great K2 and SharePoint bits this week, there was another tip from a K2 Insider that I thought was kinda cool.
If you’re one of those developers or users who have 40,000+ icons on their desktop, it can look pretty cluttered when plugging into a projector – for a presentation.  I’ve been [...]

Last two days in America

With the K2 conference completed, I was the last of the “K2 Insiders” remaining in town.   This meant some great fun with the K2 crew, especially the CEO, CTO, COO and product lead/s – over dinner and drinks.   They’re a great bunch of guys – very down-to-earth and approachable.
So much fun was had, that the [...]
